I just had to share these photos with you because I am very excited about it! We are currently being held up by the sale of our Blue Mountains house but with a bit of luck we might be moving in 4 or 5 months time! Patience Cath! Patience!

Latest Update

Miss Superfine
Tempting though those fleece stats may be, Miss superfine had a smile to scare of the most ardent fleece enthusiast.  Yes folks...dont look a gift alpaca in the mouth.

Good News!
There is always something else to cheer us up.
Our March crea's dad has made it onto the SRS recommended stud males list

Coolaroo Intrigo ET
and
here is a sample of the type of fleece our Windsong Valley Iceman creas will have in 2011.

We shall make haste slowly!

Grand Spit-off

Zoie is a very nervous alpaca and we were a bit concerned tha she may no longer be pregnant after her first float ride in 9 years!  Last week we had an old male brought over to do a spit off with her.  That's our girl! Would'nt even let him within coo-ee of the holding pen - a grand performance from the old diva!
Cant wait for April.

Meanwhile, Moonbelle had an ultrasound and this maiden is doing fine. Both are shorn and ready for Christmas.

Coolaroo Moonbelle ET is ours and confirmed Pregnant!

Today was the final payment on our new girl Coolaroo Moonbelle ET. She is a special girl with lustre which struck in our minds so strongly that this is the reason we bought her! She is a stand out for sure! Not surprising as her sire is an Allianza export, Starline August Moon 2 and out of one of the most highly valued Coolaroo hembre, Kankinya Ridge Unity Belle who in turn was sired by NWA LTD Don Juan (imp USA).

Currently Moonbelle is with cria to Coolaroo Intrigo ET who again gives our herd double highlander genetics. Intrigo is by Andean Park Marco Polo who has produced some stunning results to date .

We are very excited not only to have such a fine cria on the way but also next April will be the beginning of our ET programme with Moonbelle joined with Windsong Valley Iceman, one of Australia's finest stud males and breeder of champions.

Who will be the covering sire for 2010?

I'm starting to think of who will be our covering sire for Zoie in 2010?
She is by Windsong Valley Royal Inca who has super fine all through his progeny but now I would like some length and density so I am thinking:

Blackgate Lodge Snowmaster.
He is by Camelot Tor so we have Auzengate and sculptor on his side and then his dam has Peruvian snowmaster and highlander
OR

Timbertop Alliance ET
His fleece is stunning. He is by Brigantine. My friend Trina has a lovely hembra named Jessabelle who doesnt have the best fleece around but her crea Max has fleece packed on with very good crimp definition so it looks like Alliance has quite a bit of impact.

Actually, if I was going to buy another alpaca it would be an El Dorado girl to put with Alliance. that would be a very very interesting prospect.

All comments are welcome!

Coolaroo Moonbelle ET

We have a new girl in our herd! Coolaroo Moonbelle ET. She is a fabulous girl. we spent the morning with one of Australia's most elite alpaca breeders and her show teams and then we saw Moonbelle and were blown away by her lustrous ultra white fleece and we just had to have that in our herd!

She will be joined with Windsong valley Iceman in 2010 and we hope to get three crea from the ET programme. Of course we are hoping for something special with so many good bloodlines in the package! stay tuned. We will get a photo up when we visit her in hot hot January 2010.
